For the majority of guests, this is a straightforward request.
But for one bride, choosing to make an exception for her own child led to a confrontation with a guest that overshadowed her big day.

"She started yelling at me"
The bride explained that she decided to include her 11-month-old daughter in the celebration, believing it to be an innocent decision.
“I wanted to hold her during the reception and photo taking, and then have a family friend drive her home and wait for the babysitter to get there before coming back,” she said.
However, her friend Jessica saw this loophole and called her out on it.
“On the day of our wedding, after we told everyone several times about the no kids rule she showed up with her four-year-old,” the bride said.
Caught off guard, the bride approached Jessica to address the issue.
“She told me that 'since I was bringing my kid, it was okay if she took hers'.
“I tried to stay calm and tell her that this is a child-free wedding and she can't let her kid run around, but if she took her kid home she was welcome to come back."
Jessica wasn’t happy with this compromise.
“She started yelling at me about how since I had a kid it wasn't fair that she couldn't have hers,” the bride recalled.
Meanwhile, Jessica’s child began climbing on furniture and running around, disrupting the formal atmosphere. Despite being given one last chance to take her son home, Jessica chose to ignore the request.
“She rolled her eyes, sat down in a chair, and just watched her son run wild. Eventually, her husband Darren convinced her to get the kid and leave, but it ruined the whole first part of my wedding,” the bride shared.
After weeks of reflection, the bride turned to Reddit for advice, wondering if she had been in the wrong.
The bride's comment section supported her choice.
“Your wedding, your rules,” one said, and another added, “It is very different to have the children of the bride and groom, than a guests' child who has no part of the relationship."
A third judged: “How entitled! She knew he shouldn't be there but went ahead and disrupted your day anyway. Selfish, selfish, selfish!”
Despite the criticism directed at Jessica, the bride revealed a surprising twist—Jessica’s husband Darren found her Reddit post.
“He knew it was obviously about them, so he apologised on both of their behalf. Jessica however is furious," the bride revealed.
She then shared the text messages Jessica sent.
“You are disgusting,” the text began.
“Posting our private business online for everyone to see? Really? That honestly just proves how immature you are.”
Jessica accused the bride of favouritism, writing: “You’re making your child a spoiled brat, excluding every other child but her. I thought I was your best friend. If I was welcome, he should’ve been too.”
While Darren issued an apology that attempted to mend fences, Jessica remains unapologetic.
