"Very special mother of the groom" slammed for wearing bridal gown to son's wedding

It’s no secret that there are certain outfits that are off-limits at a wedding, no matter how non-traditional their big day is. 

To avoid conflict on the big day, it’s best to skip any dresses that could be mistaken for the bride’s.

It turns out the mother of the groom didn’t get the memo. 

At first glance, you’d think this woman was the bride. 

After all, she stepped out at the wedding in a crystalised and embellished white gown, complete with a cut-out on the side of her torso, ruffles across her bust and an array of feathers.

No joke, this dress looked like but was made for the blushing bride herself. Alas, this “fully beaded gown” was designed specifically for the "very special mother of the groom".

And the bride? 

Well, she was clad in an almost identical dress, fully beaded, with tulles embellishments across the bust and a plunging neckline. 

If you showed these two women standing side-by-side, you’d be hard-pressed to figure out who was getting hitched.

“THAT is what she wore to her son's wedding?”

Online, people shouldn’t get past the idea of the mother of the groom wearing such a dress to her son’s wedding, arguing it would take away the attention from the happy couple. 

“THAT is what she wore to her son's wedding?” someone asked in shock. “I legitimately thought this was something from Dancing with the Stars,” another laughed. 

“She had a bridal dress custom-made and called it a MIL dress?” a person wondered. “I just know she asked them to put that star on there to show that she’s the real star of the wedding. Cringe and bad.” 

“I'll bet that's going to be a super close and supportive relationship between MIL/DIL going forward,’ read a comment. “No potential problems for jealousy or upstaging there!”

The gown was a step too far for many.
