The love letter I never thought I’d write

After being married for over four years, I never thought I would be writing this to anyone but my husband.

Emma memma and Bingo's collab is the cutest thing ever

Dear Emma Memma,

A year ago, I gave birth to the most wonderful little girl.

She’s cheeky and loves to make everyone around her laugh, and I’m lucky enough to be able to spend all day with her.

We read books, play with her toys and go for walks daily, and we love spending all our time together.

That is, until 5 pm.

At 5 pm, her Dad drives the 30-minute trip home from work.

At 5 pm, we’ve read all the books, played all the games and walked all over.

At 5 pm, I need a moment of respite to sit next to her and just relax.

At 5 pm, I pop on the TV to your show, and we sit down and watch.

“Ma-Ma,” she says through a smile, her finger pointed in your direction.

For half an hour, you not only entertain my daughter, but me, too!

We love you, Emma!
We love you, Emma!

We’ve learned all your songs (my favourite is BB Butterfly, and my daughter’s is your eponymous Emma Memma song), and we’ve even mastered some of the ballet moves, too.

More importantly, this letter’s purpose is to express my heartfelt gratitude for your inspiring dream of creating a world where all children can communicate in ways that make them feel comfortable, whether it's through singing, dancing, or sign language.

Your vision for inclusive and joyful communication is truly remarkable, and I only wish I had an artist such as yourself when I was growing up.

You’ve taught me that visual communication has the power to benefit everyone and can foster understanding and connection in unique ways.

Seeing you sing, dance and sign along with your sidekick, Elvin Melvin, with such voracious energy, brings nothing but joy to everyone of all ages.

But don’t just take my word for it; it’s in the data.

Not only were you one of my most listened-to artists in this year’s Spotify Wrapped, but you have close to 100k monthly listeners on the music streaming app and hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, too.

Learning with you has been an absolute joy, and I appreciate the positive impact you're making in the lives of children and their parents.

You’ve opened my eyes to how beautiful and powerful communication without words can be.

And so, I wanted to take your own words and say, “Twirly Tuesday, dancing round and…”

Ahh, wait, wrong song!

What I meant to say was, “Thank you, thank you, thank you very much”

Love your two biggest fans,
Dominique and her daughter.

PS. No one rocks orange quite like you do!
PPS. If you're looking for a new bestie, just let me know.
