Police continue investigation into boy’s death
Police are currently investigating whether the elevator, situated on the ground floor of the Wahroonga school, was faulty or malfunctioned and allowed the doors to open before the lift had finished reaching the floor.
SafeWork NSW confirmed it had "been notified of a fatal incident at a school in Wahroonga" and is continuing its investigation into the incident but was unable to comment further.
Sanad’s parents were notified of the horrific incident at roughly 2.30 PM Wednesday as the school was plunged into lockdown.
The school for disabled children released a statement regarding the devastating death, adding they were cooperating with police on the investigation and confirmed the school premises will remain closed until further notice.
“We ask for privacy and space for our staff and families to grieve at this difficult time as we remember our beautiful student,” the statement read.
