'I ignored my in-laws' birthing advice, so they ghosted me'

“I don't wanna be labouring for 12 hours knowing there's a group of people out there waiting on me.”

Women losing choice over how they give birth in Qld

A woman has revealed that her in-laws not only don’t like her, but have ghosted her, because she ignored their birthing advice and did it how she wanted.

Brenda Ann claimed that not only did her mother and father-in-law want all of their relatives at the hospital during the labour, but they also claimed that she must announce the baby’s birth through a phone call and not via text.

The angry mother took to social media to open up about her birth story and subsequently, her relationship with her partner’s parents, as she shared: “Things I’m not allowed to do according to my in-laws…”

"I still did what I was most comfortable with, and they hate me now"

Not only this, but Brenda’s in-laws also wanted everyone present at the hospital for the birth, as she continued: “This includes a waiting room full of relatives the whole time I’m in labour.”

She then added: “Announce the baby’s arrival through text - we have to call.”

Finally, Brenda claimed that her in-laws requested that she ask people to keep their personal hygiene in check when holding the new arrival, as she revealed: “Ask hands to be washed before holding the baby - why am I so rude?”

Brenda later confirmed: “Yes, I still did what I was most comfortable with and yes they hate me now.”

"They would be my ex in-laws"

Not only this, but she also explained that much to her in-laws dismay, she didn’t tell them when she went into labour.

She explained: “Because of how entitled people were acting, we didn't say a word when we went into the hospital, and just texted when the baby was born. Everyone was furious.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @brendaann1008, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and has since racked up a staggering 1.2 million views.

Social media users were stunned at the in-laws’ behaviour and were eager to express this in the comments.

One person said: “Good grief it's your baby, they should respect your decisions.”

Another added: “They would be my EX in-laws.”

A third commented: “I'm so sorry this was your experience.”

"She still refuses to hold the baby"

At the same time, someone else wrote: “My MIL is still throwing a tantrum because we didn’t have visitors. It’s been 3 months, still refuses to hold the baby or get pics with him.”

To this, Brenda replied: “Exactly what my father-in-law is doing. Only it's been six months and he has completely ghosting us.”

Meanwhile, another user penned: “Don’t tell them when you go into labour/ go to the hospital, if you want no visits there let them know when you’re home and ready to see them, this is your experience.”

In response, Brenda shared: “Exactly what we did. They were pretty upset about all of it.”

Whilst someone else questioned: “Whyyyy do they insist on being in the waiting room.”

Brenda then explained: “I don't know, but it makes me feel so uncomfortable and I don't really know why.
