Mum's controversial Bluey demand backfires

Some people were hoping the post was a joke, but it clearly wasn't.

New range of Bluey coins now available

A mum has faced a wave of backlash after sharing a bizarre rant on Facebook addressing the manufacturers of Bluey merch.

Her request that merch be made in other colours other than blue was met with raised eyebrows, and her rambling justification did little to convince her fellow Bluey fans that there was any issue at all.

"Dear Manufacturers of Bluey Products," she began the post in the Adult Bluey Fans Facebook group.

"On behalf of mums with DAUGHTERS who adore Bluey *Cough Cough* BLUEY & BINGO ARE GIRLS… Stop making everything blue."

The Bluey girl mum's viral rant

She continued: "Everything I find with Bluey and Bingo is blue... My daughter’s bed set BLUE, pyjamas BLUE, toothbrush BLUE, sippy cup… BLUE, but wait, HER SOCKS AND UNDERWEAR ARE FREAKIN BLUE..."

"It’s very rare I find something outside of blue with Bluey, Bingo, or both."

She then demands manufacturers "be more versatile" when it comes to designing Bluey products.

The mum concluded her post by saying, "Thank you for taking the time to read and understand my issue and/or concern. Hopefully, soon we shall have more variety of Bluey products in our local department stores."

She signed it off, "Best Wishes. ~A Bluey Girl Mum 💕🫶🏽"

"Why you are so worried about your daughter having blue things?"

The post has now racked up over 3.2k reactions and over 3.2k comments.

"Maybe your daughter can handle wearing blue??? Her name is Bluey, she’s blue, she’s a Blue Heeler," one of the top comments read.

"Or…work on finding out why you are so worried about your daughter having blue things," another quipped.

"Maybe don't associate colour with gender?" someone else suggested.

"Okay but…. Hear me out…. BLUEy…… BLUEY. It’s legit in the name sweetie," a different group member pointed out.

"As a girly girl mum I LOVE that Bluey isn’t effing pink/purple like every other 'girl' thing," another 'Bluey girl mum' shared.

And some people were hoping the post was a joke, but it clearly wasn't.

Then others asked the mum why she hadn't done a quick Google search and realised there was plenty of pink Bluey merch already available.

"My daughter has a pink shirt with Bluey on it. She has a blush pink backpack with Bluey and Bingo. An orange Halloween shirt with Bluey, Bingo, and Muffin. Non-blue Bluey things exist when you actually look for them," one woman noted.

In Australia, Target, Kmart and Big W all have pink Bluey merch, as well as Amazon.
