"Every item was less than $5"

The Victorian woman wrote: "Just cleared out the bulk section in Coles Kangaroo Flat 🥰"

She then shared a photo of the boot of her car which was packed full of the discounted bulk items.

Her haul included a 24-pack of popped mini rice cakes, three gift boxes of Liquorice Allsorts, nine bottles of 500g Kewpie Mayonnaise, six 2kg tubs of Himalayan Pink Salt, a jumbo packet of panko bread crumbs, pancake mix, two chicken soup mixes and nine boxes of 12 x microwave rice cups.

What a score!

The mum added: "Every item was less than $5."

She also noted that there was "hardly anything left" that was heavily discounted when she went shopping.

"Great score, enjoy"

People flocked to the comments to praise the womans' shop, with many impressed at how she managed to score so many bulk items.

"Fabulous congratulations 🎉 I just got a few of the leftovers but I’m still happy, everyone is struggling and every penny helps these days," one fan wrote.

"Wowsers! Great score, enjoy," said someone else.

Another said: "Great score on the Kewpie, that's the best mayo but so exxy!"

And others all had the same one question: WTF is the "bulk section?"

One person asked: "What is the bulk section in Coles?? Never seen it before!?"

Another wrote: "I keep seeing this bulk shopping thing is this new at Coles?"

"I didn't realise they had a bulk section," said a different woman.

Coles Bulk Buys: 'The Big Pack Value Range'

It turns out that Coles actually launched its range of bulk-size products last year in April, but it's managed to fly relatively under the radar until now.

The supermarket introduced the Big Pack Value Range in a bid to compete with the likes of Costco and ALDI and it includes bulk versions of 44 different products from across the store.

Products include a 2kg Bega Peanut Butter, a 1.3kg tin of Milo and an 18-pack of instant noodles.

Coles said customers can look to save up to 60% if they shop for products in bulk.

Coles grocery general manager Leanne White said at the time, “Buying in bulk works really well for families who are buying the same products regularly, so can stock up on their favourites at a cheaper cost overall. Some of the products can last an average family a couple of months, which means customers save time shopping in store while managing the family budget.”
