‘It’s like they got a work experience student’: MAFS ridiculed for editing fail

“If you want to know how “real” reality TV is, feast your eyes on this,” comedian Matt Okine says in a viral video.

We all know reality TV is edited.

The perfectly timed facial expressions when someone makes a strange comment, the smooth TV-perfect conversations… if it seems too good to be true, that’s because it often is.

Comedian and presenter Matt Okine pulled up Married At First Sight editors for an especially badly edited scene where Eden and Jayden have lunch with a former MAFS alum.

“If you want to know how ‘real’ reality TV is, watch this sequence from MAFS. Watch the plates,” he said before cutting to his television.

“Oh! Where’s the food gone? No food,” he said laughing and pointing at the screen.

“They’re eating again! And now the food is gone again. Now there is food! Are you eating or not?” he continued, ridiculing the careless editing.

The comments were gold.

“Editing is so funny this year,” one person said. “I think they got a work experience dude.”

“Not me going to watch it again and only looking at the food,” said another.

“Only a true industry insider like Matt Okine knows this kind of deep television secrets,” said a third person.

People said the show was rife with terrible editing and that when food is involved, it’s hard to be consistent.

“The dinner parties are the same,” one person said. “The number of times mid-argument when the food disappears. Should make it a drinking game.”

But not everyone was happy getting Matt’s insider take.

“STOP SPOILING IT FOR US MATT,” one person wrote.

“Wait are you telling me it’s all bullshit? My life is rui… oh it hasn’t changed, all good,” said another.

During the March 10 commitment ceremony, Andrea had a costume change mid-couch session.

“In tonight’s episode Andy is wearing two different dresses!” one fan posted on Facebook.

“Did they show a shot of Andrea wearing a different dress to what she had on the couch?” a second person asked.
