There’s a specific thing I’ve been noticing a lot of men doing lately that has got me really hot under the collar.
It’s a little old school and not what you would expect, but good Lord it gets me going.
So, picture this. Last week, I went on a date with this guy who is not your typical lad about town. He doesn’t have social media, he doesn’t look at his phone non-stop during dates and he’s not even remotely interested in swiping on the dating apps. Tick. Tick. Tick.
But that wasn’t it.
While most guys might rave about the latest Marvel movie, brag about their gym achievements or drone on about their work, this guy did something that immediately set him apart.
He started talking about the book he was reading. Yes, a book.
The way he spoke about it with such enthusiasm made me want to whip out the ol’ library card hiding somewhere in my room and delve deep into one myself.
And then … Later that week, I was hunting for photos of Jacob Elordi who you may remember from that certain bath scene in Saltburn. I was chatting to a friend about how hot he is, when I took to the Googleshpere to show her examples.
Instead of the usual glam shots, I stumbled upon a paparazzi pic of him in a book store, casually flipping through books. It was giving “hot guy who reads”.
I mean, who knew that a man engrossed in literature could be so vava voom?
But my book porn revelations weren’t done just yet.
I then came across this Instagram page called “Hot Guys Reading NYC”. You guessed it – it’s dedicated to capturing candid snaps of handsome men reading on the subway and around town.
Forget the typical eye candy sites – this page is a treasure trove of literary allure.
Seeing a man lost in a book, completely absorbed and maybe even a little unkempt from a day of subway adventures, was surprisingly sexy.
So what is it about this simple act that is getting women all around the world a little … um … thirsty?
Well, for starters, it’s not just about the physical act of reading, it’s what it represents.
A guy who reads shows he’s got depth.
He’s not browsing “hot girls in bikinis” on the ‘gram. He’s broadening his mind.
Seriously, when a guy starts discussing his latest read, he’s not just sharing what’s on his bookshelf. He’s giving you a peek into his interests, his passions and his intellectual side.
But it’s not just books that turn us women on. Let’s look at the other simple acts that get us going:
1. Cooking a meal
There’s a reason Anthony Bourdain, Antoni Porowski, Salt Bae and the hot guy from The Bear are all on our lust lists. The simple art of making someone a meal says “I care for you, and I want to make sure you are well fed”.
I’m talking about a man who rolls up his sleeves, gets his hands a little dirty and whips up a meal from scratch. Whether it’s a fancy dinner or a simple homemade pasta, it shows creativity, effort and a modern man.
2. Men who walk on the road side of the footpath
Sure, in this day and age we women shouldn’t be asking for special treatment, but let’s face it, a man making us feel protected is sexy as f**k.
3. Blokes who share pictures of their hardly-masculine pets on Instagram
True story, I follow a guy on Instagram who adopted a kitten he found while walking home from the pub one night. His hilarious reels showing him caring for this ridiculously fluffy creature has left me parched.
So, gentlemen, if you’re looking to turn heads and win hearts, think outside the box.
Share what you’re reading – whether it’s the latest bestseller, a classic, or something niche and quirky – and let your literary interests shine.
Rest assured, if I see a guy on my next train trip from Bondi to the city deep into a good novel, you can be sure I’ll be checking him out.
Who knew that literature could be the ultimate aphrodisiac?
