Ashleigh Rubenach grew up revering the likes of showbiz legends Grace Kelly, Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn, so to have nabbed the lead role of Milo in the golden era-style musical, An American in Paris is truly astounding. “The child in me still can’t quite believe I get to immerse myself in the world of my favourite old films every night, not to mention the costumes are to die for.”
The stage production has been a resounding success in Queensland, Melbourne and Sydney and is set to take up residence in Perth in July.
“Being an actor means you’re often on the move. This year alone I’ve spent more time on tour in other states than in NSW,” says Sydney-based Ashleigh.
She recently moved into an apartment in the eastern suburbs with her partner Tom Clark and is buzzing about its light filled rooms.
“The first time we walked in we both knew it was the one. The high ceilings and sky lights still take my breath away. It’s flooded with sunshine. The property was renovated just before we moved in and it’s perfect.
“I’m obsessed with our lounge. It’s a cloud covered in white linen. I love to snuggle up on the chaise under a blanket and read while I drink my morning coffee. The pieces in our home are classic and clean and I’m always bringing the outside in with big open windows and plenty of indoor plants.”

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for winter coats and this one is my all-time winner. I bought it in New York and wore it all over NYC and London.
My car key has a shell from Palm Beach (NSW) attached to it. I grew up on the Northern Beaches, it’s a little bit of home.
I have a gold fob chain which is an exact replica of my Mum’s. I always used to borrow Mum’s one growing up so she got me my own for my 25th birthday.
I am obsessed with candles and room sprays. This one is my favourite and smells like a campfire – it’s the best.
Every day either Tom or I will get up and make us coffees in these mugs. Slow mornings in the sunshine and my favourite.
My nanna took me to see the Australian production of The Sound of Music when I was five. It was the reason I became an actor. I watched the film version on this VCR about 100 times before we went to the show.
