THESE stomach-churning photos show inside a home from hell which had to be seized as the family was using the bath for a toilet after clogging up their loo with rubbish.

Shocked council officers found smashed doors and mouldy food and piles of rubbish strewn across David Fyles’ home in Lancashire, UK after they were tipped off by cops.

The toilet was overflowing with effluent and rubbish so he had been using his bath as a makeshift lavatory.

A council officer described the three-bed property in Lea Crescent as the “worst living conditions” he had seen in 30 years of service.

Mr Fyles, 49, was evicted after a court was shown the shocking photos and the property was repossessed by the council.

The cost of making the home habitable again is expected to run into thousands of pounds, reports the Liverpool Echo.

At a hearing at Liverpool County Court, police told how they had visited Mr Fyles’ home in the course of their duties.

The council told the court its staff were contacted by police officers about the property as it was so filthy they were concerned about the health and safety of those inside.

One council officer told the court: “I was shocked by what appeared to be extremely filthy conditions. I have seen some bad properties in more than 30 years of working in social housing. This was among the worst.”

The officer said he tried to contact Mr Fyles a number of times about the house.

But when Mr Fyles failed to respond to letters or telephone messages the council launched proceedings to take possession of the property.

The court was told that Mr Fyles had breached his tenancy agreement in a number of ways, including not paying his rent on time, failing to keep the property in good condition, and failing to use fixtures and fittings appropriately.

Mr Fyles was not at the hearing and in his absence, Liverpool County Court awarded possession of the property to the council.

A money order to pay back rent arrears of £938.64 ($1570) was also granted against Mr Fyles, together with the council’s costs of bringing the claim.

At the same time as this matter was being heard in court, former landlord Neil Carpenter was posting photos of the squalid conditions he discovered at his property in County Durham, UK.

The bath in the young family’s home had also been used as a toilet.

The two-bedroom home had been leased to a woman and her two young children.

Human waste had been smeared up the walls, rubbish bags were strewn across the floor and — as in Mr Fyles’ house — a bath tub was being used as a toilet.

There was even human waste in a storage drawer under a child’s bed and rubbish piled a metre high in the garden.

Mr Carpenter said: “It smelt like death. That’s the only way I can think to describe it.

“I wouldn’t wish walking into that on anyone.

“The smell was so disgusting that I was certain I was going to find something dead in there.”

Rubbish was piled high in all of the rooms.

He told The Mirror he called social services about the horror find after fearing for the children’s health.

He added: “I wasn’t looking to sue them, but when two children involved I don’t believe it’s fair.”
