A popular Stanthorpe restaurant has expanded its offerings after visitation increased over the past year.
Ballandean Estate’s signature restaurant The Barrelroom launched its new summer tapas menu today.
Culinary duo and owner-chefs Bobbi and Matt Wells said they had been brainstorming ideas to meet the market for summer on the Granite Belt.
“For so many of our visitors, a decadent feast at The Barrelroom is a must-do on their Granite Belt bucket list,” Ms Wells said.
“We’ve witnessed an enormous influx of wine tourists at the cellar door and The Barrelroom, booking out weeks in advance.
“Over the last few months, the cellar door has had so many requests outside of our usual service for a light snack or tasting plate.
“In response, we’ve developed an exquisite summer tapas menu, which will be available from 10am to 1130am and 2:30pm to 4pm each day.”
Ms Wells said diners should think “prosciutto, zucchini, and capsicum arancini balls; beetroot tarte tatin; local antipasto; or tuna carpaccio with dill, garlic cream, roast chilli and crispy capers”.
“Light and luscious, perfect for those mild summer days,” she said.
“On our full menu, people have been raving about our Hervey Bay Scallops with sweet corn puree, crispy prosciutto, and lemon butter, while our handmade fettuccine with prawns, local fish, served with a light sugo sauce and grated reggiano continues to be a local favourite.
“If you are keen to try The Barrelroom’s new tapas menu, or our signature full menu, we suggest that you book now to avoid disappointment, especially for the weekends leading into Christmas.”
The Barrelroom’s husband-wife team have built a loyal following for their modern Australian menu with Italian influences, a natural fit for the Puglisi family winery and its down-to-earth hospitality.
The Barrelroom is open for dine-in lunch and tapas Thursday to Monday 10am to 4pm, and on Friday and Saturday from 10am for dine-in lunch, dinner and tapas until 10pm close. Dinner service starts at 5.30pm and the last dinner seating is at 7.30pm.
