Aussie fitness star Emily Skye has again won over her millions of followers after she shared an “honest” post after falling ill.

Aussie fitness star Emily Skye has been applauded by fans for showing off her “real” body after falling ill.

The mother-of-two, who is the creator of Emily Skye Fit, explained in an Instagram post on Thursday she copped a “really bad flu” and has been bedridden for the past two weeks.

She shared a snap of herself wearing a green crop and chequered blue and white shorts that exposed her belly, alongside a caption that read: “Nope not a pregnancy announcement!”

Emily was quick to point out that she was not expecting a child and that every part of her body, including her gut, has been affected since catching the flu.

“I feel like I’m back at square one now with my gut healing journey. I feel so weak and inflamed systemically,” Emily said.

In 2019, the 37-year-old revealed she was diagnosed with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) with doctors having also discovered several parasites lurking in her stomach.

Since then, she has been working on getting rid of the parasites by balancing her good and bad bacteria in her gut.

“Before getting sick, I was the strongest by far I’d ever been in my life and my mental health was really starting to improve after not being great for some time,” she wrote in her post.

“Getting hit with this sickness and feeling like I have to start again is really frustrating.

“I know things could always be worse of course but it’s all relative.”

Emily said she is still too sick to do any exercise.

“But when I do, I’ll start slowly. It will probably take some time and I need to be patient with myself.”

She added that “perspective and gratitude” always helps, however it doesn’t mean “you’re not entitled to feeling crap or down”.

“It just helps to pull yourself out of that negative place, because being there is not helpful at all.”

Emily, who has 2.6 million Instagram followers, reminded herself that “sh*t happens” and that she will focus on being “positive but realistic”.

“I’ll get my fitness and health back, I just need to take it one day at a time. I believe I’ll get even STRONGER than I was before and I’ll love myself throughout the process.”

Emily’s raw post was inundated with comments from fans applauding her for being so “real” and “honest”.

“You are so honest, thank you and get well soon!” one follower wrote.

“You’ve got this girl! You’re so inspiring and love your content and energy,” a second person added.

Others shared similar stories after also falling ill.

“I had Covid and the flu at the same time a few weeks back and it’s the sickest I’ve ever been also! Still trying to get my energy back as the fatigue is next level. Just need to get back into it slowly (as hard as that is). Hope you feel better really soon beautiful,” one fan said.

The Gold Coast businesswoman, who is also the co-founder of James Cosmetics, is known for sharing raw content and continuously reminds women to love themselves after having recently experienced “nasty” comments about her post-baby body.

“‘RIP fit body, Yuck, Your body is ruined, So much cellulite, Reminds me to never have kids.’ – Just some of the comments I’ve been receiving about my post-partum body!” Emily wrote in a post in December 2020.

Emily gave birth to her second child in mid-2020 – and if there is anything her fans have learned, it’s that she never shies away from revealing the “truth” when it comes to her body.

She purposely posts photos showing her differences, to prove no one is perfect – not even social media influencers.

Earlier this year, the 37-year-old said there was a lot of pressure on women to “be everything and to look a certain way”.

“No matter what you see on social media today, tomorrow, next week, next month … Do not let it make you feel sh*t about yourself because your belly isn’t washboard flat or your booty isn’t round or you’re not ‘slim thick’.

“How a body shape can be in fashion is beyond me!”

Emily went on to say a woman’s body is “amazing” just as it is.
