Tamlyn Wolfenden lost 25kg in a matter of months after signing up to Fernwood, six months after giving birth to her third child.

She entered the Queensland Transformation Championships in Brisbane, taking out second place after competing against other women from around the state.

Ms Wolfenden wanted to become healthier and fitter, not only for herself but for her children.

This was two years ago, and now she is preparing to again compete in the 2020 ICN QLD Brisbane Classic, in the Sports Model Category.

She said like many people, 2020 had been a difficult year, and there had been many hurdles preventing Ms Wolfenden from keeping as fit as she would like.

She said she always wanted to compete again but never found the time to commit to it, and although this year had thrown challenges her way she was ready.

“In 2020 I’ve been challenged with one of my hardest years with COVID, ongoing family sickness, my husband being locked down in the opposite end of Australia for almost four months and me having to look after our three children full-time as a sole parent,” she said.

“The gym closed for three months due to Covid and I put on body fat but I thought if I could compete now and make it to the stage, then nothing could stop me.

“I have wanted to compete for the last two years and deciding to do it now against so many odds has been a huge sense of accomplishment to myself, and I feel I can achieve anything.”

For the past 12 weeks Ms Wolfenden has been training with competition prep coach Kerry Rowan Fitness, and enlisted her mum to help her with the children.

“It was all so I could focus my energy on transforming my body into the best version of myself in a short amount of time,” she said.

To prepare for the competition she is weight training seven days a week, eating prepared weighed out food, sticking to lean meats, salads and veggies with family pizza night on Fridays.

Ms Wolfenden said anyone wanting to achieve their fitness goals should establish a base of self-discipline, self-belief and consistency.

“My advice to anyone wanting to get fit and healthy is to have a clear goal, get clear on the process to needed, believe you can achieve it and then push yourself beyond your comfort zone to achieve it,” she said.

The 2020 ICN QLD Brisbane Classic will be held on October 24 and 25.
