When we think about how to best accessorise our fine metals, we tend to pay great mind to the rings, hoops and pendants—and rightly so.

But in a recent interview with comedian and host Hannah Berner, the stylish and talented Jennifer Lawrence reminded us of another piece of jewellery we’ve been largely neglecting—the anklet. 

Christening it her “hot girl summer staple”—something gold with a singular little charm attached, she says—Lawrence has launched the anklet back into vogue, and everyone’s clamouring to jump on this trend during or ahead of summer.

Unlike other kinds of statement jewellery, the anklet carries an air of almost carelessness about it—casual, insouciant, playful, and effortless, all of which are the definitive energy of cool-girl summer style. While anklets of past eras, namely the '90s and noughties, could often veer on gaudy, the anklets we've been spying recently are a sleek update of the accessory.

It’s not just Lawrence whose making the case for the anklet either. It-girls Dua Lipa and Hailey Bieber have also been seen bejewelling their feet with anklets of late.

When Bieber stepped out for dinner in her vintage John Galliano ivory dress and strappy Femme sandals last week, she also had a delicate silver anklet draped on her ankle. Blink and you'd miss it, but it's this small, diamond-clad detail that is the perfect addition to her evening look.

Bieber was spotted again last night sporting yet another silver anklet, this time, styled with a bodycon LBD by The Row and Bottega Veneta silver drop earrings.

Dua Lipa has also long been a fan of the anklet; last summer, she donned one in gold on her foot and paired it with a bold heel to make a statement for her vacation dinners.

This season she’s continuing her love affair with foot jewellery but, like Bieber and Lawrence, opting for something more delicate and adorned with dainty charms. Currently back in Albania and sunning herself on the beach with her family for the summer, Lipa has been showing off her body jewellery—also including the gorgeous gold body chain she’s been pairing with her bikinis—on her Instagram, and we're couldn't be more sold on the anklet front.

It's certainly fair to say that Bieber and Lipa are making the perfect case for this understated summery foot accessory. We'll absolutely be taking a page out of their books.
