Men will see a good pair of boots and just think, “hell yeah.” And it’s true. Few things compare to the feeling of wearing a solid, dependable, and stylish pair of boots. Putting that shit on starts from the ground up. Blundstones, the sometimes clunky, affably chunky, slip-on leather boots with the thick soles, have blossomed beyond Australian shores, finding homes on the feet of a new horde of stylish men and women.

As far as exports go, boots are something we’ve just got right here in Australia. Blundstones have been co-opted from farmhands, and slotted into the looks of vagabond creatives and artists who have made good use of their durability and ease of wear. But, the boots have found homes beyond the paint-stricken pants and ripped jeans of their creative fans.

Just the other day, Jake Gyllenhaal during an appearance on The Tonight Show, wore a pair with his under-$2,000 suit from Wooyoungmi. Mixing the inventiveness of new age Korean tailoring with a rugged pair of Aussie boots. Brilliant. Gyllenhaal could have slipped on a pair of derbies or loafers and looked fantastic, but instead, he opted to give the suit the everyman edge.

He’s not alone. The boots are loved by other stars. David Beckham has been spotted in some, as have Zac Efron, Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, another Australian label he loves. Even Iggy Pop has been seen performing in a pair. They are chameleonic in the way they can squeeze into any look or context.

As workwear embeds itself in every which style, the Blundstone has seen its stock in the fashion world skyrocket. Here, you’ve got a wonderfully made pair of boots, available in a wealth of colours that can handle the elements and not look like a pair of steel caps. ‘Blunnies’ should be in every wardrobe. They are capable of being thrown on with a suit and dressed up, but their versatility excels in the everyday. Jeans, tailored trousers, even a pair of shorts—part of the traditional uniform of the wet weather festival—Blundstones work with them all.
