Nothing celebrates the beginning of summer faster than a trip to the beach. Unfortunately, clear blue skies and balmy temperatures mean everyone else usually has the same brilliant idea. Often, despite our most valiant efforts to lather on SPF and shimmy into our swimsuits as quickly as possible, arrival to your local beach is timed to coincide with… well, hundreds of others. While it’s rare to find a beach so overcrowded you can’t even fit one extra towel or umbrella, if anyone’s had the misguided notion of hitting Bondi Beach on New Year’s Day, they’ll know there is such a thing as too many people on one patch of sand.
Alas, it’s also not as simple as moving overseas, either. As many Antipodeans on holiday will attest, beaches across Europe, the Americas and the rest of the world can be just as packed. In fact, new research from Florida-based travel experts FloridaPanhandle.com compiled a list of the busiest beach in every country. The study examined reviews of some of the world’s most popular beaches, filtering comments where they were described as “busy” to came up with a definitive list. From countries with multiple entries (here’s looking at you, Spain) to some of Australia and New Zealand’s most popular coastal spots, keep reading to discover some of the busiest beach hotspots across the globe.
