No matter the year, the most stylish Olympic uniforms have the power to leave a lasting memory. On the one hand, they must evoke a sense of national pride, but they also need to be functional for the demands of the many sports being played.
So, it falls to the designers, some of the biggest manufacturers in the world, to ideate and bring these snazzy uniforms to life. Nike’s effort for the Kenyan and Ethiopian track and field uniforms at the Tokyo Games made them iconic, and they have since become collectables amongst runners. At the winter games in 2010, Burton created anti-uniforms for the US Team, featuring a printed quilt jacket and printed denim on highly technical snow apparel. Paving the way for the explosion of printed denim goods we’re seeing now.
