Cinnabon: Iconic US bakery chain finally opening in Melbourne

The American franchise – famous for one “irresistible” signature item – is finally opening the doors of a Melbourne store in what fans have labelled the “best news I’ve ever heard”.

Even if you haven’t eaten at Cinnabon while on holiday in the United States, chances are you’ve smelt their signature buns being made.

The chain is famous for its “irresistible” cinnamon buns which (like pretty much all food in the US) is supercharged with delicious toppings like Lotus Biscoff, caramel pecan and chocolate as well as their signature frosting.

After opening its first Australian outlet at Brisbane’s Toombul Shopping Centre in 2019 followed by Westfield Garden City and Robina Town Centre, Cinnabon is finally making the move south to Melbourne.

Cinnabon’s famous cinnamon rolls are coming to Melbourne.

Cinnabon will be opening an outlet at Westfield Southland on March 3 – and it’s safe to say devotees of the American chain are more than just a little excited.

“The day I’ve been waiting for is here,” one enthusiastic person wrote on Instagram.

“Oh we are more than ready,” another commented, tagging their friends.

Others said their “dreams have finally come true”, making plans to head to Cinnabon on the opening day.

“I think this is the best news I‘ve ever heard!!” one person wrote.

But some people were unhappy about the thought of another city missing out in favour of Melbourne.

“Why Melbourne before Sydney,” one person lamented.

“Sydney, you need to come to Sydney,” another commented.

Those keen to secure themselves a sweet treat can place a pre-order for the Melbourne store online now.

Available to purchase are a four pack of Cinnabon classic buns for $21, Caramel Pecanbon for $23 or a Chocobun Cinnapack for $22.

There are also nine-packs of MiniBons or Classic Makara Cinnamon Rolls for $27 or a mixed pack consisting of three Classics, three Caramel Pecanbons and three Chocobons for $28.

You can also buy a tub of Cinnabon’s signature frosting for just $5.

Cinnabon opened the doors of its first bakery in the US city of Seattle in 1985, where its cinnamon buns soon proved a hit with customers.

There are now more than a thousand Cinnabon stores in 50 countries around the world.
