In a bid to make the upcoming festive season more budget-friendly, Coles has dropped the price of a beloved festive ham to just $8 per kilogram – the cheapest it’s been since 2019.

As of Wednesday, Coles brand Single Smoked Beechwood Half-Leg Ham has been reduced by 50 cents per kilogram compared to the previous year.

The average size four-kilogram half-leg ham will cost around $32 and serve a gathering of up to 20 people, which translates to just over $1.50 per serve.

The featured ham, which earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Sydney Fine Food Show is Australian sow stall-free pork and lightly smoked, making it an popular choice for Christmas Day lunch or Boxing Day leftovers.

Noting the financial challenges Australians have faced this year due to the rising cost of living, Martin Smithson, Coles’ General Manager of Meat, Deli, and Seafood, said the best-selling holiday ham is now the lowest it has been in four years.

“It’s been a difficult year for Aussies who are continuing to feel the effects of cost-of-living, which is why this Christmas we’ve stepped up our offering with great value on a classic Christmas Day staple,” Mr Smithson said.

“We’re incredibly proud of our must-have, 100 per cent Australian and sow stall free Single Smoked Beechwood Ham and we’re excited to offer customers the opportunity to spend less on their ham than last year.”
