A mother who was acquitted of responsibility for her own daughter’s death has revealed her new path in life after remaining relatively under the radar.

Casey Anthony, who was acquitted of murdering her two-year-old daughter Caylee, took to TikTok to reveal she was now a “legal advocate and researcher”. She said she’d been in the field since 2011 — which was when she was going through the legal system herself.

“In this capacity, I feel that it’s necessary if I’m going to continue to operate appropriately as a legal advocate that I need to start to advocate for myself — and also my daughter,” she said in a clip that has gone viral.

Anthony, now 38, said she wanted to introduce herself to society, and at some point she will likely respond to claims made about her.

“My goal is to help continue to give a voice to people, to give people tools and resources they can use so they can know where to turn to,” she said, encouraging people to subscribe to her Substack.

She said one of the main reasons she was putting herself back out into the world is because people close to her felt “targeted and attacked”.

“As a proponent for the LGBT community, for the legal community and women’s rights, I feel it’s important that I use this platform that has been thrust upon me, and look at it as a blessing — opposed to the curse it has been since 2008,” she said.

Anthony said she intended to keep her privacy as much as possible, saying it was paramount for private individuals to do so. Since her acquittal, she has only done one phone interview and two television appearances.

Her only other post on TikTok is a screenshot of a subscriber stack where she said she has “intentionally limited” her exposure to media and all her social media accounts have been private up until this point.

“I welcome you to join me, keep an open mind and allow me to properly introduce myself,” she wrote.

“My name is Casey Anthony.”

Anthony has the comments turned off on both of her videos.

Anthony’s daughter, Caylee, went missing in 2008. Anthony, then 22, didn’t report her missing for a month.

Instead, Anthony’s mother, Cindy, reported her granddaughter missing after discovering her daughter’s car at a junk yard, Fox 35 reported.

Six months after Caylee was reported missing, her remains were found in a laundry bag in a wooded area. Duct tape had been wrapped around her head.

Anthony was acquitted of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child. More than 100 million people around the world watched the verdict after the court case saw two very different stories about what happened to Caylee painted.

Anthony was acquitted of Caylee’s death, but she was found guilty of lying to police during the early investigation into what happened to Caylee. She was sentenced to four years and given a US $4000 because of this. Time served meant she was out of prison in just 10 days.

Anthony didn’t give her first interview until 2017. Anthony filed papers to start her own private investigation business in 2020, People reported. She then appeared in Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies.
