Weddings can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars, but one bridal store has vowed to help Aussies find their dream dress for a fraction of the price.

Weddings can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars, but one bridal store has vowed to help Aussies find their dream dress on a budget.

Kay, who owns Noodz Boutique, was working in IT project management when she became tired of the corporate world.

“Back then, I liked going out to nightclubs with my friends. So I started my Instagram account and when I’d wear something out, people would ask, ‘Oh, where did you get that dress from’,” Kay told news.com.au.

“So I thought maybe I should start selling dresses directly to people.”

Kay initially sold party dresses in 2015 through Shopify, which she had purchased in bulk from fashion labels, before moving onto evening gowns, where she worked with her own suppliers to meet stock demands and organised a warehouse.

Then, she noticed people buying white dresses for weddings so once again, she branched out into the wedding space covering everything from bridal and bridesmaids, to mother of the bride outfits.

According to Money Smart, the average cost of an Australian wedding is $36,000 with more than 82 per cent of couples dipping into their savings to pay for their big day.

Meanwhile, the average cost of a wedding dress in Australia is $2,637, but on Kay’s site the highest price point for a wedding dress is $650.

“I don’t like spending a lot of money on clothing, like I won’t spend more than $200 on a dress,” Kay said.

“I genuinely want to help people get a good quality dress for a fair price.”

Some of her dresses have been labelled as an opportunity to get the look of a celebrity while sticking to a budget.

For instance, Sofia Ritchie’s custom Chanel couture gown for her wedding to Elliot Grainge, which could cost up to $380,000, has people considering Noodz Boutique’s Liliana or Delilah gowns, which are $399 and $350 respectively.

Victoria’s Secret Angel Barbara Palvin married Dylan Sprouse earlier this year, and wore a custom Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini dress. The price on the dress has not been confirmed, but Kay’s $420 Sophia gown has been compared to the custom item.

Kay said often people will have an idea in their mind, or take inspiration from a celebrity, and she will point them in the direction of a dress that has a similar neckline or style.

Kay said she has noticed more people trying to get the look for a more budget friendly price, however her customer based is mixed.

“Sometimes I’ll get some customers who buy five dresses in one order, as they may have a few events to go to,” she said.

On the other hand, there are many customers who are simply trying to make their dream day on a budget.
