Who is Dan Murphy?

Born in 1918, Daniel Francis Murphy founded Australia’s largest liquor retailer at the age of 34. His first store opened in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran in 1952, and still stands as the flagship Dan Murphy’s cellar. Part of a family involved in the Australian liquor industry since 1878, Dan’s philosophy of offering the largest range of beer, wine and spirits at the lowest price possible resulted in the ‘superstores’ now found all across Australia.
