She’s famed for her impeccable fashion sense and is often spotted at the most exclusive celeb parties – but did you know Nadia Bartel has a penchant for budget beauty items?
The entrepreneur, who created cult clothing brand HENNE and co-owns popular Aussie tanning company Spray Aus, has amassed a cult following with her affordable skincare and make-up recommendations.
Fans of the Melbourne influencer can’t get enough of it, with many of Bartel’s videos amassing hundreds of thousands of views, a detail she said she loves.
“I love sharing products that I genuinely use and believe in. I have always been very intentional about only recommending or working with brands I use and trust, and that’s something I’ll never compromise on,” she told news.com.au’s The Beauty Diary.
“I use a mix of products ranging from affordable to more high end, because you don’t need to spend a fortune to discover incredible results.”
One of the mum-of-two’s favourite budget brand’s is Cetaphil, a pharmacy staple Bartel said she discovered after she welcomed her eldest son Aston.
“As a first time mum, I was looking for products that were dermatologically tested, gentle, and safe for babies’ sensitive skin, and Cetaphil’s baby range ticked all the boxes,” she explained.
“Over the years, I’ve personally experienced how incredible their products are. During my second pregnancy, I struggled with itchiness and dryness around my eyes and mouth, and the Gentle Skin Cleanser really helped heal my skin barrier and restore calm to my skin.
“Lately, I have been loving their Healthy Renew range, especially the eye cream. It’s soothing and works as a retinol alternative because it’s made with purified peptides, which are both gentle and anti-ageing. I have noticed a difference to my under eye area.”
As a result of raving about the brand to her 529,000 followers, Bartel has recently just taken on a new role as a Cetaphil ambassador, a position she said she was “really passionate about”.
“I’m a longtime customer of Cetaphil, I love that the brand is backed by science and dermatologists, so I know how much research goes into every product,” Bartel said.
“I have also seen first-hand the incredible results on my boy’s skin and mine, so I know how powerful and effective it is.
“With this role, I hope to educate and inspire others – especially those who may suffer from sensitive skin – and prove that there are products out there that can make a difference.
“Helping people feel confident and comfortable in their own skin is something I’m really passionate about.”
As well as Cetaphil, the popular influencer also shares lots of great buys from Chemist Warehouse, a well-known drugstore that sells cosmetics at cut prices.
“I recently bought the Maybelline Sky High Mascara, it’s a product I always stock up on because it sells out, and it’s so good for the price tag.
“I think it’s a really challenging time for many people right now, so I’m always mindful when sharing my favourite beauty products.
“I want to recommend items that I know truly work but are also affordable.”
Another Maybelline buy she rates is the brand’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser concealer, which retails for under $14.
In a video Bartel shared using the product to “contour” her face, she clocked up 3 million views, with many followers thanking the star for the tip.
“I absolutely love this product, have been using it for years now and it is so underrated,” one said.
“Absolutely trying this technique,” another shared, noting how Bartel explained she “uses a trick called underpainting” which involved using not one of the products, but three in various different shades.
“Beautiful, natural and great tip,” someone else added, as one said: “Wow, this has blown me away. So clever.”
Bartel also revealed the “most-used item” in her beauty bag, stating she never goes out without wearing sunscreen.
“It’s the one product I never skip because protecting our skin from UV damage is the foundation of healthy, glowing skin,” she told The Beauty Diary.
“SPF is such a simple but powerful step to prevent premature ageing, sunspots, and skin damage. It’s my number-one non-negotiable beauty product.”
