$19 Kmart item that renters are obsessed with

For those who don’t have airconditioning as the weather heats up, this $19 tool from Kmart is being touted by shoppers as a saviour.

A mini cooler from one of the country’s biggest retailers is being praised as a good solution if you don’t have an air conditioner.

Jodie, from Brisbane, took to social media to boast about the Kmart Evaporative Cooler Rechargeable, which retails for $19.

The device includes two coolant packs, which go in a slot at the bottom of the machine.

“If you don’t have aircon, you should check this out from Kmart,” she said.

“I actually bought it for my son because his bedroom is really hot but it’s really handy for my desk because it gets really hot in this room.

“It has an ice pack that goes in the bottom there. It’s really cool.”

Social media users weighed in on the mini ice cooler, with some offering alternative solutions.

“If I was you I’d invest in a ARLEC 9000btu portable aircon from Bunnings. My room gets so cold I start shivering and gotta turn it off,” one suggested.

Another social media user said: “I don’t think they really chill even with the brick in them but the fan is really good and I’m keeping it charged in case we have power outages.”

“I have this! it’s cool but the only problem I have is ice pack pull out drawer. It gets stuck all the time,” another commented.

One was less than impressed, saying; “I had one a while ago, did absolutely nothing.”

“These are amazing, cools the bedroom in my caravan in about 30min,” one commented.

Another said: “I imagine that ice pack would defrost very quickly when it’s hot and then you just have a little fan.”

“These are very good only on very hot temperatures,” another said.

One added: “They will not work if you live in an area with humidity.”

A Kmart spokesperson said people were loving the device.
