What’s on Toowoomba: 10 things to do this weekend

From ballet to local orchestras or signing up to volunteer organisations, there’s something for everyone in Toowoomba this weekend.

Winter is on its way and Toowoomba is getting cosy with an array of events on this weekend – from taking your best furry friend for a walk, to watching some Ukrainian Ballet, or finding a bargain in a clothing swap.

Throw a scarf around your neck, put a beanie over your ears and get out in the parks or dress up for a night at the theatre – check out what’s on offer this weekend.

1. One Million Paws Walk

In celebration of 30 years of the Million Paws Walk, the Queens Park Oval will fill with families and pooches to help raise money for animals in need.

You can participate in the walk from 10am – 1pm on Sunday.

2. Toowoomba Regional Youth Orchestra

Classified: Top Secret Concert

The 50-strong ensemble of Toowoomba Regional Youth Orchestra is set to play an array of spy-themed musical numbers.

The event kicks off at 7pm on Saturday at the Toowoomba City Church auditorium on Neil Street.

Tickets start at $13.

3. Toowoomba Emergency Services and Volunteer Day

If you are interested in being more involved in volunteering, this day is for you.

Come and check out emergency demonstrations and meet some of the faces behind our volunteer organisations from 10-am-2pm on the TAFE Oval on Lindsay Street.

Entry is free.

4. Grand Kyiv Ballet of Ukraine

After its first show got postponed, the Grand Kyiv Ballet of Ukraine will return to the Garden City this weekend, in what is sure to be a treat for the Empire Theatre audience.

The show will be held on Sunday from 2pm.

5. Toowoomba Spiritual Fair

The Toowoomba Spiritualist Church is putting on a spiritual fair of readings, healings and high vibe experiences from 10am – 4pm on Saturday.

The event will be held at the church on the corner of Perth and Hume Streets.

6. Community Day for St Luke’s Anglican Parish

St Luke’s Anglican Parish will host a community morning with plants, preloved books and cake and coffee stalls.

Proceeds raised will go to the Parish Pantry, which is maintained and run by volunteers and provides food and basic groceries to individuals and families in need.

The event runs from 8am-noon on Saturday at the All Saints Church.

7. Highfields Pioneer Village

Highfields Pioneer Village, Museum and Park will open this Sunday for a fun day of events including bird feeding, mini steam train raids, vintage bus tours and fire engines.

The event runs from 10am-4pm on Sunday.

8. Karinya in the Valley – Trail course

Karinya in the Valley is having a come and play day, were horse enthusiasts can take on the challenge of a trail course.

Head down to 35 Greers Road at Helidon Spa from 8.30am-12.30pm.

Tickets are from $50, which you can purchase from Eventbrite.

9. Endless Edit Clothing market

This preloved clothing market is coming to Toowoomba, and people are encouraged to go through their wardrobes and on-sell high-quality garments they need to give a new home to.

The market will be held from 8am-noon on Sunday at the Toowoomba Masonic Centre.

Entry is $2.

10. Toowoomba Farmers’ Market

Grab a coffee, a morning treat and browse gifts, plants and vegetables at the weekly farmers market.

The regular event is held next to Cobb & Co from 8.30am-12.30pm.
