It’s safe to say that the Festival of Food and Wine has gone off with a bang, as locals and visitors flock to Queens Park to get in on all the foodie fun.
Friday saw fabulous music acts from Budjerah, Steph Strings, and Sneaky Sound System on the main stage, 15 pop-up cellar door bars, as well as beer and cocktail bars began serving up their tasty beverages sourced from across the region.
With the vibrant backdrop of the colourful flowers and garden, the Festival of Food and Wine is certainly the place to be this weekend.
Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce chief executive Todd Rohl said the festival was a celebration of many of our fine local producers and businesses who get to show off to not only the region, but to the world what they have produced.
“It is a great way to showcase the region. Locals should take it back to grassroots and see the gardens to see where it all started,” Mr Rohl said.
“And they should pop down to the CBD, engage with local businesses and take advantage of the events and enjoy Toowoomba’s finest hospitality.”
Fitzy’s Toowoomba marketing manager Anita Armanasco said it really was a beautiful time of year when the Carnival of Flowers and Festival of Food and Wine are on.
“Everyone is just smiling all the time, it is such a fantastic event,” Ms Armanasco said.
Ms Armanasco said that Fitzy’s was very lucky to be so close to the festival location.
“The festival brings a lot of foot traffic for us, we are absolutely packed right now, Ms Armanasco said.
“We’ve just started our all-day dining again on Fridays through to Sundays, which means we get so many more customers.
“With live entertainment in the beer garden, bar-style eats, and the festival on, we truly come alive.”
With one day down for the festival, the best is yet to come with Saturday and Sunday full to the brim with exciting activities the whole family can enjoy.
Farm to Fork demonstrations kick off Saturday with showcases from The Paddock Butchery and celebrity chef, Justine Schofield.
Tasting rooms also begin with Pechey Distilling Co, 4 Brothers Brewing and Burleigh Brewing providing samples to add a kick to your festival weekend.
The Eurogliders, Jon Stevens, Hoodoo Gurus, Hamilton band and more will take to the stage for a weekend of awesome live music.
The Festival of Food and Wine is on Friday, September 8 and ends on Sunday, September 10.
