Harrison Gentry has a dream of becoming a palaeontologist when he grows up, so it was no surprise he wanted to get up close and personal with some prehistoric marvels.

The nine-year-old and his family were some of the hundreds that poured into the Toowoomba Showgrounds at the weekend for the travelling Dino Festival.

The massive exhibit inside the Founders Pavilion was making its first trip to Toowoomba, featuring life-size models of famous dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and Dilophosaurus.

“It’s really fun and (the exhibit will) tell people to respect dinosaurs,” Harrison said.

“My favourite would have to be Dilophosaurus.”
