The Simpsons kills off another character after 35 years

The Simpsons has killed off a character that has appeared on the beloved cartoon sitcom for 35 years leaving fans in a state of shock.

Big Simpsons mystery finally solved

The Simpsons has said farewell to another longtime Springfield resident.

The long-running animated sitcom has killed off recurring character Alice Glick, known to fans as the organist at the First Church of Springfield.

She played her last song during November 16th’s episode of the sitcom, titled Sashes to Sashes.

In the episode, Alice Gluck keeled over onto her organ and died suddenly in the middle of a sermon by Reverend Lovejoy.

Her final wish was to leave her estate to Springfield Elementary to fund the school’s new music program, and Lisa made sure that wish was honoured in the end.

The character, who was originally voiced by Cloris Leachman before Tress MacNeille took over after Leachman died in 2021, appeared on The Simpsons for a whopping 35 years.

It’s not the first time she’s been “killed off”, but it’s definitely the last after executive producer Tim Long confirmed that she has now said goodbye for good.

“In a sense, Alice the organist will live forever, through the beautiful music she made,” he told PEOPLE. “But in another, more important sense, yep she’s dead as a doornail.”

Fans rushed to share their thoughts over the surprise death on social media following the episode airing.

“Oh my gosh,” one person wrote on X. “Someone update The Simpsons wikis about Alice Glick.”

“Rest In Peace Mrs. Glick!” added another, while a third shared, “I think it’s the second time they’ve killed Ms. Glick.”

“1st Larry, now Alice Glick,” tweeted another. “The Simpsons are killing off everyone…”

Last year, the iconic, long-running cartoon sitcom killed off another of its familiar characters — Larry the Barfly.

While casual fans might not know the balding man by name, Larry had a spot at Moe’s since, at least, Season 1’s Homer’s Odyssey that aired back in January 1990.

Longtime fans were shocked by the loss at the time.

“Just learned they are killing off Larry on The Simpsons tomorrow. I need a minute,” one posted on X.

After the show aired, another user mourned the character. “I can’t believe they killed off Larry Dalrymple on The Simpsons last night. #RIPLarry,” they said.
