Scott Cam appeared on breakfast radio on Friday morning to discuss what is possibly the most scandalous season of The Block ever.
Ahead of Sunday’s big Auction Day and season finale, the veteran TV host popped by Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie to reflect on the antics of the Blockheads this year.
From the walkouts and relationship breakdowns, to the cheating scandals and now the alleged ghosting of Channel 9 by one couple, Cam was ready to spill the tea.

“This would have to be one of the most controversial seasons that we’ve had on The Block, because we do have some flirting going on between a couple of couples and we’ve had a couple who have broken up and basically built a whole house just to leave the show,” host Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald asked him on-air.
“You know, it’s an organic show,” Cam replied. “We sort of put 8, 9 or 10 cameras on the ground and leave everyone to their own devices but this year, we probably should have wrangled them a bit better.”
Indeed, this year saw young WA engaged couple Jesse and Paige have a rough time since the very first episode aired on August 12, with the pair shown on camera increasingly taking out their frustrations on each other as the season progressed.
It all came to a head just four weeks later when a producer eventually intervened during one brutal late-night fight between the pair.
The engaged couple, who have since indefinitely postponed their wedding, dramatically opted to leave the show.
Adding to the drama, a cheating scandal has also since unfolded between married couple Brad and Kylie, after his wife of seven years overheard him tell fellow contestant Mimi over drinks that he would “follow” her OnlyFans if she had one.
As the scandal unfolded on TV, Brad – who shares four children with Kylie – told producers he believed his wife had left him for good, and that he’d “single-handedly destroyed” his family.
It appears the pair have managed to patch things up since filming wrapped, given they were photographed together at the Melbourne Cup festival on Tuesday along with their fellow Blockheads.
However, it remains to be seen whether they plan on attending the auction together this weekend. Likewise, Cam could not confirm their attendance when asked on Nova this morning as the pair have apparently ghosted Channel 9.
“We can’t confirm anything with those guys, because they’re not in communication, so we’re not sure how it’s going to play out,” he said on-air.
Fitzy said it was “heartbreaking” to watch the couple complete their renovations and have the potential to set up their future with an auction win, only for them to walk away from the show.
“It’s pretty odd. It’s shooting yourself in the foot, I suppose,” Cam replied. “But look, honestly, our publicity people, who are the people that talk to them when it’s on air and things like that. I don’t have communication with them because I’m doing other things, but we’ve got people at the network that do that, and they have been struggling to make contact with them throughout the time, you know, they haven’t made contact. So to be honest, we’re not sure at this stage.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Fitzy praised Cam for “biting your tongue” for most of the season given the amount of contestants who’ve gone rogue this year.
“I think that contestants are changing these days. I definitely at times was biting my tongue, I try and keep everybody happy throughout the series,” Cam agreed.
“I’d like to keep everybody there to the end. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen this year.”
