‘We’re out’: Block team’s builder suddenly quits on camera

The Block’s newest team were left in tears after their furious head builder suddenly quit, pulling his crew from the site for good.

Newest Block team Maddy and Charlotte were left in tears on Tuesday’s episode of the reno show when their builder Zac dramatically quit on camera, immediately pulling his team from the build.

Tensions were bubbling earlier in the episode when Zac complained that he felt ignored by the sisters, who he felt favoured communication and collaboration with other people on site, including the new carpenter they’d hired.

“I’m very much on the outside of things,” he said, pulling Charlotte aside to demand a change.

Zac says he’s “very much on the outside.”

Charlotte finds him “intimidating.”

“It’s quite rude and I really don’t appreciate it – and if I’m just here to be a glorified labourer, I’m not interested,” he told her.

Zac declared he was “pretty over it” and was leaving for the day. He said when he returned he hoped they’d have a different attitude and will have cleaned the site (which he said “looked like a brothel”) for him.

The next day, both sisters went head-to-head with Zac, with Maddy telling him that his demeanour could be “intimidating,” which is why they found themselves avoiding him.

Zac’s done, pulling his team from The Block.

Zac bristled at their use of the word, and offered them what they considered a non-apology: “I’m sorry you can’t handle the way that I talk.”

The argument escalated until Zac suddenly called time.

“Alright, I think this has made the decision. We’re going to be out. We’re no longer going to work here with you guys. This team dynamic isn’t going to work … sorry guys.”

As the girls started to respond, he walked off on them, ordering his team “pack it up, boys.”

Maddy was left in disbelief at how quickly relations had soured.

”I think being kind goes a long way. I’m not asking for the world, I’m just asking to be respecte,” she said.

This blow-up marks the second time this season a Block team have parted ways with their builder on camera. Last month, Ricky and Haydn fired their builder following a series of setbacks they said they “couldn’t recover” from.

Ricky said he was embarrassed about how things had turned out with their builder, who he said had repeatedly broken their trust: “Australia’s going to look at us like we’re idiots,” he told the cameras.

“To have our biggest fail in life on national TV on our favourite show … it’s hectic.”
