FBoy Island Australia Season 1 stars Molly and Nick still going strong one year on

It’s rare to see couples on dating shows flourish once cameras stop rolling, but these reality stars are more in love than ever after meeting on-screen.

It’s rare to see couples on dating shows stand the test of time, but season one’s FBoy Island Australia star Molly O’Halloran is still with her chosen one, Nick Brown.

One year after meeting on the controversial BINGE dating show hosted by Abbie Chatfield, which saw Molly and two other ladies shift through 24 men to find Nice Guys among the FBoys, the pair are still going strong.

Speaking to news.com.au, the duo – who walked away from the show with $50,000 cash prize – reveal they are now living together in Nick’s hometown of Sydney and have just marked 19 months of dating.

“For me, it all happened very, very quickly. It was only a few months after my relationship broke down that I then went on the show and then a few months after that, I moved in with Nick. It has been an absolute whirlwind and probably not what I would’ve planned,” Molly tells us.

Indeed, Molly was engaged just months before she appeared on the dating show last year where she met Nick. The occupational therapist from Melbourne was five months from marrying her fiancé when she busted him having sex with an escort. They broke up, she went on FBoy Island and found Nick, who helped her work through her trauma.

“I still was unpacking a lot of trauma, but Nick has been nothing but supportive during that. And I’m a big believer that some things happen for a reason,” she says.

“Although it was pretty s**t at the time, it has taken me on this absolute joy of a ride, so I wouldn’t change anything.”

Moving into Nick’s apartment after three months of dating came with a “few teething issues”, and some mancave items and Marvel memorabilia she wasn’t expecting.

“Molly got rid of most of my artworks,” Nick tells us. “I’ve got one of Biggie Smalls and Michael Jordan. I’ve been able to keep my Michael Jordan one. We’ve had a few teething issues, but I think we’ve worked through them.”

“There’s been a lot of redecorating, so I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. But the house does look really beautiful now.”

“If you want to get to know someone, move in with them. It’s either going to make it or break it,” Molly laughs. “I think for me, moving into a boy house has been very difficult. There’s a whole wall of Marvel memorabilia and slowly bringing a feminine touch to the house has been a real challenge for the both of us.”

But the couple are going from strength to strength, with fans in a frenzy earlier this year when photos of the pair in what looked like wedding attire sparked talk they had secretly married.

“Oh my god, it was so funny,” Molly says, explaining it was all just an ad campaign, with Nick adding, “I did like seeing Molly in a white dress, though.”

“I didn’t realise people were still invested. I thought it has been a while since the show. I just think, why do people care?” she says of the media attention. “The good thing is we were on the first season of the show. The show isn’t as huge as something like your MAFS [Married At First Sight] or your Love Islands, so we’re not as concerned about our perception and constantly being scrutinised, which I really like. So we don’t have as much pressure as some other reality stars.”

This week, the pressure is certainly on for the Season 2 stars of FBoy Island Australia with the finale airing on Monday. And if there’s anyone who knows what the final contestants are feeling right now, it’s Nick.

“I feel like a lot of them would be nervous and because they’re not exactly the stars of the show – they’re the contestants,” he says.

“The easiest thing, well, the hardest thing really, is to just be yourself. But that’s the best thing because that’s what the girls are looking for.”

“I honestly cannot wait to see it. I have heard that [last year’s leading ladies] Zara, Sophie, and I walked so these girls could run, and I cannot wait to see them go through this same journey,” Molly adds.

“The biggest thing is just to lean into it … Jump in head first and don’t look back. And trust your gut.”

Molly trusted hers and one year on and she and Nick are ready to out some roots down and buy property together. They just can’t decide if they should buy in Sydney or Melbourne, where Molly is from.

”We’re still kind of developing that. We’ve only been together for what, 18 months-ish, so we’re still working each other out,” she says. “We don’t want to jump into anything too quickly. But if we didn’t have the long game in mind, we definitely wouldn’t be here.”
