Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has come out as gay in a clip on TikTok in which he detailed his family’s reaction to the news.

The 18-year-old US-Canadian actor shared the lighthearted video, revealing to his 31.4 million followers that his loved ones already knew about his sexual orientation when he worked up the courage to come out to them, New York Post reports.

“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was, ‘We know,’” he wrote on the clip.

In the eight-second video, the actor was seen lying in his bed while mouthing the words of a woman saying, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious.”

“I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought,” the actor, who plays Will Byers in the Netflix series, captioned the post.

Viewers previously speculated that Schnapp’s character was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, which the teen confirmed in July 2022 when he told Variety, “He is gay, and he does love Mike.”

“Can we all appreciate that Noah just came out to the whole world and realize [sic] how much courage it takes to do that when you’re a literal celebrity,” read one remark.
