Meghan Markle cops flak for Lilibet’s wrinkled dress in birthday photo

Not everyone was left gushing over the cute photo of Lilibet, with Prince Harry and Megan Markle under fire over one feature you may have missed.

'No chance': Queen banned Harry and Meghan from photographing great-granddaughter Lilibet moment

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have coped flak from online critics for one detail in the cute photo of their daughter Lilibet.

It would seem not everyone was left gushing over the portrait of the young royal sitting on the grass and smiling, which was captured at her first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage at the weekend.

Some mothers took to social media voicing their criticism, claiming the pale blue cotton dress worn by Lilibet should have been ironed, reports The Sun.

“Dreadful photo. Why would any loving parent want their child presented so badly,” one person said.

“The hand embroidered dress is not shown to enhance the personality of the child.

“Instead it looks wrinkled and time-worn.”

Someone else agreed: “The dress should be ironed”.

While a another person took slight aim at the Duchess of Sussex: “Meghan always looks put together well so I was surprised to see that mess of a dress”.

But the family’s fans came to their defence.

“She’s a child, how dare you attack her little wrinkles,” one wrote.

“I didn’t even notice them because I was so excited to see her sweet face.

“Like or dislike her parents, doesn’t matter, but bashing her dress is beyond rude!

“Where are we headed that this type of nonsense is even acceptable?”

Another said: “As an heirloom seamstress who has made many heirloom dresses, I am thrilled to see this darling baby wearing a slightly wrinkled dress”

“It means the dress is being used!!! I love the photo!”

MEGHAN ‘FURIOUS’ AT QUEEN’S LILIBET PHOTO BAN

Meghan Markle “must have been furious’ after a ban on photographing the Queen with Lilibet put her contract with Netflix in further jeopardy, according to Royal biographer Tom Bower.

As Prince Harry and Meghan quietly returned to their California home, the investigative journalist said the ban on photographing the first meeting between the Queen and great-granddaughter was the “final blow” after the Sussexes were banned from official Platinum Jubilee events.

“Meghan must have been furious when she heard that photographs of their Windsor meeting were forbidden,” Mr Bower said, according to The Daily Mail.

“Banned from the balcony for Trooping the Colour, no shot of her with the Queen in St Paul’s and then the final blow was no shot of Lilibet with her great-grandmother. Finally, the Palace is playing a good hand”.

The name of the photographer reported by The Sun to have been banned has not been confirmed, but their friend Misan Harriman posted images captured during the party to her social media accounts.

Netflix has already dropped Meghan’s animated series Pearl, and Mr Bower said the forbidden birthday photo could place future projects in even more “jeopardy”.

“The veto of photos will fuel the Sussexes’ resentment. Harry’s reprisal could be more revelations in his book billed to be published later this year. This is a dangerous game for both sides,” he said.

Lilibet and the Queen reportedly met on the Thursday before her first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage on Saturday.

A matching blue ribbon headband adorns her fiery red hair – which she inherited from her royal dad.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex held the informal garden party at Windsor’s Frogmore Cottage, the royal estate, over the weekend while they were in the UK for the Queen’s Jubilee.

Guests included Zara and Mike Tindall’s children Mia, eight, Lena, three, and Lucas, one, along with Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly’s daughters Savannah, 11, and Isla, 10.

Other guests reportedly at the birthday celebration included Archie’s godfather Charlie Van Straubenzee, and his brother Tom, Princess Charlotte’s godfather.

Violet Bakery‘s Claire Ptak, who produced Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding cake, created a custom cake for the special day, Harper’s Bazaar reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children were invited to Lilibet’s first birthday party as an olive branch, but the family did not attend.

Instead, the Cambridges and two of their three children, Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte, 7, were in Wales for the day taking part in Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

They did wish Lilibet a happy birthday on Instagram, as did the rest of the royal family.

The Twitter account for the royals posted a balloon emoji and the message: “Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!.”

It comes after Lilibet finally met her great-grandmother the Queen last week, after whom she was named.

However, the 96-year-old reportedly banned Harry and Meghan from bringing a photographer into Windsor Castle to capture the moment she met Lilibet.

It’s believed that the Sussexes wanted to bring a private snapper in to capture their first face-to-face meeting but were told “no”.

“Harry and Meghan wanted their photographer to capture the moment Lilibet met the Queen,” an insider told The Sun.

“But they were told no chance. It was a private family meeting.”

The Sussexes quietly left the UK on Sunday and flew back home to California before the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations ended.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s only public appearance during the four-day celebrations to mark the Queen’s seven decades on the throne was at the National Service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday.

But on Thursday they were spotted through windows of the Major General’s Office telling young royals to be quiet, during the Trooping The Colour parade.

Prince Harry and Meghan did not attend Saturday night’s Platinum Party, but instead reportedly watched the concert at Windsor with the Queen.
