New Netflix show has 50 ‘boundary-pushing’ sex scenes

A new Netflix series based on the life of a famous porn actor may well be the streamer’s most explicit offering to date.

A new series coming to Netflix next month may well be the streamer’s most explicit offering to date, featuring around 40 to 50 “boundary-pushing sex scenes” as it tracks the life of real-life Italian porn star Rocco Siffredi.

Actor Alessandro Borghi plays Siffredi in Supersex, a series loosely inspired by his life, from humble beginnings as a child in Italy through to his rise to fame as the “Italian Stallion” and star of more than 1300 pornographic films.

In a new interview with Variety published today, Borghi says that despite the abundance of sex scenes in the seven-part series, which drops on Netflix on March 6, “it’s never because at that point in the narrative you needed to throw in some sex for the audience.”

… tells the story of real-life porn star Rocco Siffredi.

Rather, in the show, sex “can be Rocco’s consecration, his happiness, or the way he faces pain.”

Borghi had previously stated that he filmed 50 sex scenes in 95 days for the series.

“It was funny because the first couple of weeks we were all a little uneasy,” he told Variety. “And then the third week we just stood there naked looking at scenes on the monitor. So something must have worked.”

Variety reports that the series opens with a bang, a fictionalised take on a famous Siffredi moment: His 2004 announcement at the Berlin Film Festival that he planned to retire as a porn star. Only in Supersex, Siffredi “then proceeds to have rough sex in front of a throng of cheering journalists and fans,” after an aspiring porn performer begs him to give her her big break into the industry before he retires.

Supersex comes to Netflix on March 6.

The Netflix series is the latest career pivot for Siffredi, 59, who dabbled in mainstream cinema roles in the early noughties. In 2015, he made headlines for a surprising new venture: a “porn university” where aspiring X-rated stars could learn all the tricks of the trade.

He also decided to turn the concept into a reality TV show called – what else – Siffredi Hard Academy.

He said at the time that many porn stars are normal people away from the camera — they just have unusual jobs.

“I have a normal life, for many, perhaps too normal. I do not forget where I come from. Fame did not make me lose touch with reality,” he said.
