HBO has found a magical new trio to play Harry, Ron and Hermione in the upcoming television adaptation of the Harry Potter series.

Dominic McLaughlin has been cast in the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ronald Weasley.

More than 30,000 children auditioned for the television series which is set to air in 2027.

“The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together on-screen,” showrunner Francesa Gardiner said.

“We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned.

“It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”

They will join a powerhouse of fellow cast members who have already been announced including John Lithgow who will star as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

The original films launched the careers of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint who played the beloved wizards and witch in the eight-part movie series.

Harry Potter author JK Rowling is an executive producer on the new show which will run on HBO Max.
