Eagle-eyed Swifties are convinced that Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film will be making its way to Aussie theatres in October.

Swift recently announced the release of her Eras Tour concert film, which will be available in North American theatres from October 13.

“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon,” Swift posted to Instagram, complete with a trailer for the dazzling film.

Despite Swift’s announcement only mentioning that the film will be released in North American theatres, Australian fans have discovered a huge clue in the Hoyts Cinemas app, sparking hope for the thousands of people who missed out on tickets to Swift’s Aussie shows earlier this year.

Under the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the Hoyts app, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour can be found, with the release date also set for October 13.

“The cultural phenomenon continues on the big screen! Immerse yourself in this once-in-a-lifetime concert film experience with a breathtaking, cinematic view of the history-making tour,” the description reads.

However, there is still no confirmation on whether the film will be available in Australia, or whether this is just a glitch.

Hoyts did not respond to comment at the time of publication.

Regardless, fans are taking this as a sign that Aussies will be able to experience the historic tour in cinemas soon.

“There’s no sessions yet, but it gives me hope that if this is on their app, it has to be coming to Australia, right?” one fan posted to TikTok upon making the discovery yesterday.

“Since I lost the Great War for a ticket this is the next best thing,” another commented in a Melbourne Swifties Facebook group

However, some fans have pointed out that, if the rumours are true, then the film will be released in Australia before Swift’s Australian concerts take place next February, causing some to question whether they’ll see the film or wait to see Swift live first.

The mega star will be playing three shows at Melbourne’s MCG and four shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, with tickets having sold out in a matter of hours earlier this year.

Over in America, the announcement for the concert film has received an unsurprisingly positive response, raking in USD$26 million in a single day of advance ticket sales at AMC alone, shattering records.

Additionally, the release date for the film The Exorcist: Believer has been moved up to October 6.

Initially set for cinematic release on Friday October 13th – a clearly intentional move for the horror movie – producer Jason Blum quickly announced the change in release date on X (formerly known as Twitter) following the news of Swift’s concert film.

“Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23 #TaylorWins,” the producers post read.

The move has sparked jokes among fans of both films, with some expressing their disappointment that they won’t have an “ExorSwift” weekend anymore, similar to the “Barbenheimer” memes seen a couple months ago.
