Rolling Stone lists 200 best Aussie albums of all time

Rolling Stone polled 800 experts to reveal the 200 best Aussie albums ever – who came out on top, and who scored the most albums on the list?

Iconic music magazine Rolling Stone has today unveiled its list of the 200 best Australian albums of all time – and it’s wall-to-wall classics.

Rock gods AC/DC come out on top with Back in Black – still the second best-selling album of all time – with INXS following close behind with their world-conquering Kick album.

Dance-focused efforts by The Avalanches and Kylie Minogue appear lower down the top 10 – in fact, Minogue is the only female artist to appear in the top 20, with her top-selling album Fever.

It’s official: The best Australian album of all time.

The list was assembled with input from some 800 artists, journalists and other music industry experts.

Among the newest on the list: The Kid Laroi’s F*** Love, which was only released last year. The Redfern teen is experiencing huge success at home and in the US, where his latest single Stay hit number 1.

INXS came second …

… Kylie landed 10th.

Some other interesting stats: Nick Cave is the most featured artist, with six albums on the list, while silverchair have the rare distinction of getting their entire five-album catalogue in the top 200 (starting with Frogstomp at number 6).
