ROSAMUND Pike says playing the dark, twisted character of Amy Elliot-Dune in Gone Girl was so traumatising she wanted to fall pregnant as soon as filming stopped.
Pike, who is now seven months pregnant, spent five weeks playing the psychotic character and says she knew she wanted to have another child as soon as filming wrapped.
“After filming I just knew I had to go out there and make a human being,” she told The Mail on Sunday.
“The film was so tough and such a hard experience that the instant I’d finished I thought, ‘I need to bring something positive into the world. Life is good with little people around.’”
Pike also said she found the film very difficult to watch while pregnant.
“Seeing it on screen was hard even for me – and I’d played the role,” she added. “As a pregnant woman I felt so far away from that narcissistic woman.
“It’s the sort of part that does make you look at yourself and wonder where the movie role ends and the real self begins.
“I thought, ‘I’d better make sure this is all buried away. I don’t want to release any of this when I get home.’”
Pike is expecting her second child within weeks. She already has a two-year-old son called Solo with husband Robie Uniacke.
