JAMES Packer’s $70 million star-studded commercial for his new Manila casino has finally debuted.
The pricey short film masquerading as an ad was directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro — but it didn’t come cheap.
The eye-watering price tag for the flashy ad was largely due to the massive sums commanded by DiCaprio and De Niro — a rumoured $15 million each for the one minute clip.
The ad, titled The Audition, was filmed on location in Packer’s movie themed Manila casino resort, City Of Dreams, in the Phillipinnes which he co-owns with his Hong Kong business partner Lawrence Ho.
It sees DiCaprio, who sports a bushy beard and man bun, and an ageing De Niro competing for a role in a fake movie.
“I’m going to tell you something, I’m going to get this role,” the Wolf of Wall Street star tells his competition.
The Godfather actor responds: “No. I’m going to get this part.”
You get the gist.
Packer has reportedly invested more than $1.2 billion in three casinos throughout Manila.
Brad Pitt is rumoured to be starring in an equally pricey follow-up commercial, which was filmed in September. The Fury star reportedly put his honeymoon with Angelina Jolie on hold to film the project.
