Jurassic World fan theory: Could it actually be true?

A FAN theory about the true identity of Chris Pratt’s character in Jurassic World has been doing the rounds on the internet. Is it true?

IT’S a wacky theory, but could it actually be true?

Jurassic World only hit cinemas last week, but already some fans have come up with a theory about the true identity of Chris Pratt’s character.

They’ve taken to the internet to share their belief that Chris Pratt’s character in the new film, Owen, is actually the grown up version of a young character who appeared in 1993’s Jurassic Park.

In the original film, remember the annoying kid who told Sam Neill’s character that he didn’t think raptors were very scary?

Here’s a clip to refresh your memory:

And here’s the evidence they claim backs up their theory:

- In the 1993 original, Dr. Alan Grant (played by Sam Neill) lectures the kid about raptors and tells him to “show a little respect”. The kid agrees. Now fast forward to Jurassic World where Owen (played by Chris Pratt) can be heard saying that his relationship with the raptors in the park is “based on respect”.

- The role of the annoying kid in the 1993 film was played by an actor called Whit Hertford. It turns out that Chris Pratt is only a year younger than Hertford, so the character’s age pretty much matches up.

But here are some recent quotes which put a real dent in the theory:

- Whit Hertford categorically denied it on Twitter, saying, “For the record, @prattprattpratt is not playing a grown up version of my character in @JurrasicWorld. That role is mine, dammit!”

- Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow playfully poked fun at the theory when he was asked about it, saying, “I’m not sure I want to answer because the speculation is so much fun. Let’s not kill the fun.”

Fun theory, but not true. Oh well.

Chris Pratt’s character is NOT the annoying kid in Jurassic Park.
Chris Pratt’s character is NOT the annoying kid in Jurassic Park.
