AMY Winehouse has attacked her father, Mitch, from beyond the grave with comments that he exploited her fame for his own gain.
Her comments come from a new documentary, entitled Amy, which has been screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
The never-before-seen footage paints Mitch Winehouse in a very bad light.
Variety reports that in one scene he visits her in St Lucia with a film crew, in a move which clearly appalls his daughter.
“Why have you done this to me? You have to come out with a camera crew! Are you only interested in me for what you can get out of me?” she says.
At the time she also took a swipe at him on Twitter, saying “WHY don’t my dad WRITE a SONG when something bothers him instead of going on national TV?”
Her husband Blake Fielder-Civil says in the documentary that Amy had told him that she was traumatised by her dad walking out on the family when she was young which was the reason why she was promiscuous in her 20s. She also admits to having to turn to antidepressants at the age of 15.
“Mitch Winehouse is presented here as one of two key male influences (along with Fielder-Civil) who inadvertently assisted her decline, with a cavalier attitude to her long-term bulimia and initial denial of her need for addiction treatment,” the magazine says.
Mitch Winehouse works full time for the Amy Winehouse Foundation, the charity set up in her name, which educates youngsters about alcohol and drugs.
He has also written a book about his daughter, entitled Amy, My Daughter, which was released on the anniversary of her death and in which he states that the pair had a very close relationship.
He also released a jazz album in 2010 at the height of her fame.
