‘Mean’: Hathaway slammed over ‘rude’ interview

The journalist who infamously congratulated Blake Lively on her “little bump” has now revealed an even more awkward celebrity encounter.

Anne Hathaway was met with crickets from the audience in awkward interview

Anne Hathaway is facing backlash after an unearthed interview that fans say shows the star being “mean” and “rude”, and there’s a surprising twist to the story too.

Earlier this year, Blake Lively faced backlash over a resurfaced interview that saw her being rude to an interviewer who congratulated her on her “little bump” shortly after she’d publicly announced her pregnancy.

Now, the same interview has unearthed another shocking interview, this time with Hathaway from back when she was promoting Les Mis.

Kjersti Flaa took to TikTok share her interview with the actress, which she titled, “This might be my worst interview ever.”

In the clip, she’s seen asking Hathaway to sing her responses to some questions. The journalist had luck with her co-stars Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman interviews on the same day, so had hoped Hathaway would also join in the fun.

However, things quickly spiralled.

“So, I was going to ask you to do the first question singing, can I sing it to you and then you can sing back the answer?” Kjersti asked the actress, who responded: “Well, I won’t be doing that, but you’re more than welcome to sing.”

Hoping to poke fun at the moment, she continued: “So were there any awkward moments like this on the set, because you had to sing and not talk?”

However, Hathaway instead simply coldly laughed in response.

She then questioned Hathaway on whether she thought love was more passionate back in the time of Les Mis, or if people would sacrifice more for love back then, and she replied “No,” without offering to elaborate.

Swiftly moving on, when asked if she remembered her first crush, she then responded, “No,” before the interview came to an end.

In a subsequent video, Kjersti shared her thoughts on the awkward interview.

“I was sitting there like, ‘OK, this is not going the way I’d hoped for,’ but then I thought, ‘Heck! I’m going to do it anyway!’”

“So, Anne Hathaway was not very excited to be singing to me and that interview just went completely downhill after that. She was being so dismissive of me.”

Fans rushed to slam Hathaway over the “cringe” interview, with one commenting: “This is just as bad as the Blake Lively interview yikes. The stonewalling is so bizarre.”

“Anne Hathaway needs to follow the example of her fellow stars. What gems!!” said another, referencing the interviewers interviews with Hathaway’s Les Mis co-stars.

“The other actors were fun and funny and adorable so why did Anne have such a bad attitude?? Unbelievable,” added a third confused fan.
