‘Held hostage’: Bridget Jones sequel sparks chaos for celebrities in London

The latest Bridget Jones sequel is currently filming on the streets of London, and it’s sparked chaos for some big-name celebrities.

Some of the world’s biggest celebrities have reportedly been left fuming after the filming of the new Bridget Jones movie has sparked chaos in London’s suburbs.

North London is home to the likes of Harry Styles and Rowan Atkinson, and many of the areas most high-profile residents have been left “held hostage” in their homes while filming for the movie takes place on the streets.

“Neighbourhoods with stars such as Harry, Rami, Ricky Gervais and Rowan Atkinson, living there are all getting letters from the production about not interrupting shots,” a source told The Sun.

“The film is causing chaos in this part of North London where they are shooting a lot of the film.”

“The letters have informed them about when filming is taking place and they have been asked to either leave their homes during this time or not to come and go at certain times. “It’s like they’re being held hostage by Bridget — and it’s driving everyone mad.”

The latest sequel will be based on the 2013 book Bridget Jones’s Diary: Mad About the Boy, which follows the 51-year-old single mother of two children as she navigates dating in an era of social media and dating apps.

In the book, Bridget, now eight years on from the events of the third movie, has two children and is a widow after the sudden death of Mark Darcy. She then decides to put herself out there in the dating world once more after mourning his death.

However, it’s currently unconfirmed whether the movie will stay true to the books when it comes to the beloved character’s death.

Zellweger previously shared her excitement about a potential sequel, telling Radio Times: “I know Helen’s [Fielding] written the book, and I love this character. So, I mean, if they call me, I’ll go running. I really hope [there is another movie]. I do. I love her. She’s so much fun.” Author Fielding also previously spoke about the potential for another film, saying: “I think it’s really difficult to make films and to make them happen and to make them good and we want it to be really good. But I really hope so. I’d love to see it on the screen.”
