Australia was introduced to two Darling Downs women on Sunday night for the launch of the 2024 season of Farmer Wants A Wife as they throw their hats in the ring, in hopes of a ring.

Millmerran disability support worker, Caitlin Crank, and Oakey farm hand, Taylah Gillies, are contestants on season 14 of the Channel 7 show.

The 28-year-old Ms Gillies said she made the decision to go on the show on her quest to find love, which she said had been stifled by her life in a small town.

“I decided to go on the show because I was ready to find a genuine guy,” Ms Gillies said.

Ms Gillies said she works at the Toowoomba Base Hospital, as well as running her own hairdressing salon, and working as a farm hand on a property near Oakey.

Ms Gillies is competing for Farmer Joe, a cattle and sheep farmer from New South Wales, while Ms Crank has been set up with Farmer Bert.

Australia’s top dating show sets up five farmers each with a choice of eight women in a bid to help find them love the old fashioned way.

This year the show features 27-year-old Ms Crank, who describes herself as “a catch” as she competes against seven other women to woo 30-year-old Farmer Bert, a pineapple and dragon fruit farmer from Wamuran on the Sunshine Coast.

In her bio from Channel 7 she describes herself as “a very positive person” who tries “to take away three positives” from bad situations.

She’s lived in Canada, as has Bert, and is kind and caring, with a big heart.

She’s flanked by seven other woman hailing from Queensland or Victoria, who work a variety of roles in healthcare, customer service or media.

The fourth-generation farmer is looking for someone who he can share his farm with, is funny, outgoing, adventurous and hardworking.

Bert admitted sometimes he can struggle with words, but shows his love through acts of kindness.

“I will go to the end of the earth for them as long as they are willing to do the same for me,” he said.
