A snap of Meghan Markle during the Queen’s state funeral service has inflamed social media users who joked it was an intentional act by royal funeral organisers.

During the BBC’s coverage of the service, the camera panned to the senior royals however the Duchess of Sussex’s face was obscured by a candle. Despite this Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and Princess Anne were clearly identifiable in the shot.

Noticing the gaffe, social media users were quick to jump on the joke.

“On the sad occasion of Her Majesty’s funeral, I am comforted in the knowledge Meghan’s head is obscured by a candle,” wrote one user.

“I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist but that candle is totally blocking the view of Meghan," shared another user.

“Unfortunately, the television camera’s view of #Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is obscured by a large candle,” read another comment.

Some even argued that the move was done on purpose. Despite being fifth in line to the throne (behind Prince William and his three children), Prince Harry was seated in the second row behind other senior royals, including the daughter of Princess Anne, Zara Tindall.

“How is Prince Harry in the second row but Zara and her fella in the first? Lmao what,” one Twitter user questioned.

Meghan arrived to the Queen’s funeral service separately to Kate Middleton, who travelled to Westminster Abbey with Camilla, Queen Consort, and her two oldest children Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince George of Wales.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry followed the Queen’s coffin in a procession alongside his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William.

Prince Harry was known to be especially close to the Queen and appeared to be devastated as he entered the abbey.

Earlier, King Charles led senior members of the Royal Family in following the Queen’s coffin to her funeral at Westminster Abbey.

And as the procession arrived, he led his family — and hundreds of servicemen — in giving Her Majesty one final salute.

But, noticeably, a few people didn’t join in. Among them were Prince Harry and Prince Andrew.

As they are no longer working royals, the are not allowed to wear military uniform. And as they are not involved with the military, they are not permitted to salute.
