King Charles ‘may force Prince Andrew out of Royal Lodge’

The Duke of York reportedly believes King Charles is trying to remove him from his Windsor estate for one major reason.

Prince Andrew reportedly fears King Charles is trying to force him out of his $52 million Windsor home by slashing his annual grant.

The Duke of York is believed to have told friends that he will be unable to maintain Royal Lodge, which he shares with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, unless he receives a hefty allowance from his older brother, the Mail on Sunday reports.

The massive property requires extensive work and the scandal-plagued Prince may have to move out by September.

Prince Andrew reportedly received an allowance of $435,000 per year from the late Queen.

But members of the royal family have now been told to expect less money from the Duchy of Lancaster – now owned by King Charles – than in the past.

A friend reportedly said: “They’ve been told their subsidy, vital for maintaining Royal Lodge, will be cut as soon as April.”

King Charles is believed to be mindful of the fact that the Queen gave Prince Andrew a new-build house – Sunninghill, in Berkshire – as a wedding present when he wed Sarah Ferguson in 1986.

The Duke of York later chose to sell it for $26 million to a Kazakh billionaire who demolished it and built an ultra-modern house in its place.

There has reportedly been discussion of what to do with the many royal properties, the Mail on Sunday reports.

A source said: “This is about downsizing and making the properties work for their local communities as much as for the royal family.

“Even before coming to the throne, the King made no secret of the fact he wants a slimmed-down monarchy.

“He knows the public won’t want to see money wasted, particularly in the current climate.”

It comes after The Sun reported last month that Prince Andrew has been “thrown out” of Buckingham Palace by King Charles and that he’ll no longer be allowed to keep offices in the building.

Prince Andrew is said to be plotting a legal bid to overturn his settlement with his Australian-based accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who alleges he sexually assaulted her when she was underage.

The Prince has alway vehemently denied all accusations and has consistently claimed he does not know Ms Roberts Giuffre.
