Hugh Jackman has been spotted in deep discussion during a walk with Ryan Reynolds, just two days after announcing his split from Deborra-Lee Furness.

Single Hugh Jackman steps out in New York after separation

Hugh Jackman has been spotted turning to his A-list best friend Ryan Reynolds in the wake of his marriage breakdown.

The Australian actor, 54, and the Deadpool star, 46, were photographed going for a stroll in New York on Monday, just two days after Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announced their split after 27 years.

While Jackman and Reynolds have long entertained a fake feud with one another in the media, the pair are known to be very close.

At one stage during their walk, Reynolds seen putting his arm around Jackman as they appeared deep in discussion.

It comes amid reports Jackman and Furness, who share two adult children, decided to separate some time ago, with their relationship rumoured to have been impacted by Covid-19 lockdowns and this year’s SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Jackman and Furness, 67, shared their difficult news with People magazine on Saturday, providing a loving declaration they reiterated would be their “sole statement” on the matter.

“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the pair said.

“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority.

“We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.

“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”

Meanwhile, Jackman and Reynolds were busy filming Deapdool 3 before the actors’ strike brought Hollywood productions to a standstill in July.

Jackman’s involvement in the Marvel production, in which he’s reprising his legendary Wolverine character, was announced in September last year.

It proved quite the surprise, given Jackman was thought to have retired the role in 2017’s Logan.

Reynolds made the revelation in a Twitter video, in which he was seen talking about brainstorming ideas for the hotly anticipated third instalment of the Deadpool franchise.

“I’ve had to really search my soul for this one. We need to stay true to the character. Find new depth and motivation and meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart,” Reynolds began.

“It’s been an incredible challenge that’s forced me to reach down and reach inside and I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here, and terrifying. But we did have one idea.”

At this point, Reynolds paused before Jackman casually walked by in the background.

Reynolds asked, “Hey, Hugh, do you want to play Wolverine one more time?”

The Twitter war between the friends – who regularly collaborate with one another on movies and endorsements – has been brewing online since 2017, much to the thrill of their respective fanbases.

Highlights have included Jackman asking people to urinate on Reynold’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and Reynolds quipping, “Pretty sure those are protesters,” in response to a post of Jackman posing with fans in Beijing.
