Sam Smith’s father presented him with a banana before his appearance at the 88th Academy Awards today, complete with a hilarious message.

Sam posted a picture of the bizarre gift on Instagram, showing the unripe snack with “Hope you get lucky at your after-show party” written on the skin.

The British singer is nominated for Best Original Song award for Writing’s On The Wall, his theme music for the last James Bond movie, Spectre.

Let’s hope he doesn’t slip up.
