It was a black-and-white affair in New York yesterday when the cast of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans gathered ahead of the miniseries’ hotly anticipated premiere next week.
Leading the way was Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart who nailed the two-toned theme as she walked the black carpet at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.
Flockhart, 59, wowed in a floor-length gown by Zuhair Murad teamed with Tiffany & Co. jewellery – a super stylish ensemble that would get the stamp of approval from her on-screen character Lee Radziwill, the sister of former US First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
The actress and her castmates each portray real-life figures from the ‘70s on the show who are referred to as the “Swans”.
The FX miniseries – which premieres locally on BINGE on February 1 – is based on the real-life drama when famed author Truman Capote (played by Tom Hollander) exposed his social circle of socialites, aka his so-called “Swans”, in an article published in Esquire.

The fallout was swift and saw Capote was shunned from the group in spectacular fashion.
Playing a Swan alongside Flockhart is Aussie actress Naomi Watts, who looked stunning at the New York premiere.
Wearing a Givenchy lace gown, Watts channelled her inner Babe Paley – the fashion icon she plays on the series – with black opera gloves and a very appropriately swan-shaped crystal clutch from Judith Leiber Viveka.
Also bringing the glam were co-stars Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Molly Ringwald and Demi Moore, who channelled a literal swan in her Balmain gown, thanks to its swam motif.
Hollander, who is superb as the late, great Capote, kept it simple in a tux – a sartorial option his “rebel” on-screen ego would most definitely have not chosen.
“I think in a world where people were much more repressed, [Truman] was a great show off in a world where everyone is showing off all the time,” Hollander told People magazine at the event.
Ringwald – who plays talk show host Johnny Carson’s second wife, Joanne Carson – agreed.
She told People that Capote and the Swans were indeed “the influencers of their day”, likening their statuses to the Beyoncés and Taylor Swifts of this era.
